London Fire Brigade tackle blaze at Walthamstow car workshop

The London Fire Brigade have confirmed they were called to the scene on Palmerston Road at 2pm today after receiving 34 calls to the blaze.

Flames and smoke were seen coming out of the building on Palmerston Road, Walthamstow, with crews from 11 stations at the scene, London Fire Brigade said.

Nearby homes have been evacuated and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

In a statement issued in the past hour, they said: “The whole of the single storey workshop is alight.

“Fire crews from Walthamstow, Leyton, Tottenham, Chingford, Woodford, Stoke Newington and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.”

The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that the blaze is coming from a single storey car workshop. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
